7th & 8th Grade Information
Leander ISD 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to study an important lesson during the week of April 20th. Leander ISD believes that sexuality education begins at home. Parents or legal guardians are the primary educators of their children and can be the most important influence on their children’s health decisions. The lessons your child will receive in school are designed to reinforce what a parent or legal guardian is teaching at home, not to replace it.
The newly created Leander ISD Human Sexuality Curriculum is below for you to examine. This curriculum 1) is created specifically for Leander ISD with the support of a health educational specialist, and 2) meets the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) for Human Sexuality. Each of the three grade levels has 4 lessons. These lessons will be created in Google Classrooms for students to engage with. Campuses will provide space and time for students who opt in for the learning to work through the independent lessons with a teacher facilitating their work.
To opt in, please fill out the following Google Form by April 17th for 7th & 8th Grade
Below are the PDFs for each of the grade-level lessons. Please note these are PDFs; the content in the Google Classrooms will be what you see below, but will be formatted in a way that is appropriate for students to use in Google Classroom. For example, while it isn’t possible within these PDF versions, some slides are interactive for students (ie drag and drop, multi-select).
